Saint Gervais Town
Saint Gervais is a bustling little town about 55minutes by car or transfer bus from Geneva Airport. A further 20minutes up the valley takes you to the world renowned Chamonix.
Saint Gervais itself has a fantastic array of amenities, such as recently refurbished swimming pool complex with both outdoor and indoor pools under 5minute walk from the chalet. The Patinoire (ice rink) is also about a 5minute walk, and is great fun to have a go skating, or alternatively watching the local ice hockey team, or even the figure skating events held regularly throughout the winter season. Mini Golf and Tennis courts are also within a 10minute walk. The Tramway du Mont Blanc which you will occasionally hear in the woods behind the house, can be taken from town up to Nid D'Aigle, or the Eagles Nest, which is the starting point for climbers wishing to summit Mont Blanc. Even for the non climbers, the view is lovely. Parking throughout the town is free.
Saint Gervais also offers a range of dining choices, from pizza/pasta to Savoyard specialities such as Tartiflette, Raclette and Fondue, aswell as some fantastic burgers at the Brasserie in the centre of town. For finer dining, Bistrot le Serac, and its michelin star sister 'Le Serac', and our own personal favourite (where we got married in 2017) Le Ferme de Cupelin which is a 20minute walk from the centre of town underneath the ski lift.
For the skiiers
The Evasion ski pass covers St Gervais, Megeve, St Nicholas and Les Contamines, and provides ample variation for ski groups of varying standards. The ski bus can be caught from the end of the road (just 100m away) to take you to the cable car running up to Bettex, and then on further to Mont D'Arbois. Alternatively it is around a 10minute walk, or 2minute drive with free parking. Ski hire is available at a number of places, walking distance from the chalet. For apres-ski Saint Gervais is a more family friendly resort than some of its peers, but Pur Bar, the Oboose cafe, and the Brasserie among others, all welcome you in for a Vin Chaud after a day on the slopes.
